The Alchemy of Marshmallow

Marshmallow bleeds cream
into char and burn.
Boil and flicker, steep.

Sticky-root sweetness clings to bone,
searching through leaves—

skewered, steady,
a delicious, fully embodied treat.

Tongue sopping in ecstasy,
throat slick, lungs emit—
glistening, liberated inauguration.

Note: The marshmallow plant (Althaea officinalis) has long been used to soothe inflammation of the eyes, ears, throat, and lungs. Its creamy sap calms irritation and restores moisture where dryness or fire once lingered. Symbolically, it heals the channels of perception and speech — dislodging and softening the blocks that silence creativity, freeing expression to flow once more.

    1. Life is pretty ecstatic with sensuality. I love being a part of the alchemy of life and all its facets. I had never heard of Goblin Market before now and looked it up. Very neat! I want to read it and not just a synopsis. Thank you for sharing it.
